Romans 12 & 13...words to live by

Wow...just re-read Romans 12 and 13 ...very convicting as I was day-dreaming today of simple 'escape,' because sometimes life just seems to drag on...especially on Mondays These passages jolts you back into God's reality.  Not that God wants to destroy a well and deserved rest (a vacation or trip to simply escape)...I really don't think God is a killjoy at all...he uniquely designed pleasure and wants us to be happy.

But if that is all we live for, we have misssed the boat.  Life for us is meant to be lived by faith and meant to please him 100%.  We are called to be holy. Called to love. Called to have purpose and meaning for our lives.  Called to have a  conscience.  Called to be obedient. Called to serve others ,rather than ourselves. Sometimes this is ahrd, but I think it is good.  Ultimately really good.  And the rewards are richer too when we serve.

Thank you Lord for your Word and a reminder of how to live....let me live in this way.  to enoy the times for escape but also to live by Your calling.  Your High calling. ...
Amen...for today...

My hero...

I am so grateful. I had a blast. Sweetie was awesome.  He is a great fisherman and a wonderful mentor and friend. I only pray that I could love him as much as he loves me.
Thinking about yesterday's adventure in my mind makes me smile. Jesus, thank you for Sweetie...a blessing to me.  I pray that you would watch over him and show him your love and faithfulness. Amen.

We love because He first loved us. - 1 John 4:19

Lord help me to love like you do.  Help me to be respectful and full of joy.  Full of trust and faith.
Amen.

What a gift!

The Lord kept his promise...he gave us an amazing weekend.  Rick, Grace Episcopal, Sam, the kids, the servant-hood leaders, sharing communion, the beach with all its elements, the Inlet, the waves, the armadillo and woodpecker, the manatees, rays and dolphins.  The Lord is good.  Very good.

Thank you Lord for your love for us. Forgive me for my tiredness and when I was almost at-wits-end. Forgive my for my own pride and frustrations - that I would even have them. Satan...you are overthrown.

Lord, thank you, thank you.  Jesus we love you. Renew us. Refresh us with your Holy Spirit.  Guide us. Be in us. Let us be on fire.

Praise you Heavenly Father.
Amen.

Praise the Lord

I praise the Lord this morning, for His banner over me is Love.  Thank you Lord for a beautiful weekend, full of sunshine and lots of joy.  Forgive me for all my sins and my fears, and please let your peace fall on us, your beloved children.  Thank you for your mercies, which are new every morning - great is thy faithfuless, oh Lord, my strength and my Redeemer! And Lord, thank you for Jamie, who has great patience with me and for his love and faithfulness toward me; for Melinda, my good friend and sister in the Lord, for my family, my friends, and my life!

Amen.

Psalm 33
1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars ; he puts the deep into storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.

OREO Cakesters - True love with my niece...

So last night I had an "Auntie's night out" with my eldest nice, Aubrey.  Aubrey is visiting with my sister and her family for Spring Break.  They love to come to the beach and stay at my parent's house and just chill out.  Who wouln't---they are on Hilton Head...

Anyhoo..Aubrey is 11 and is way more nature than her age tells.  She, in her own words, "reads at a twelvth grade level" - which is so true, and she's also very demure and a collected little woman.  Much to be admired already.

Well, we began the night after I got off work exactly wher I like to be...at the beach.  It was a gorgeous soft, cool Spring evening.  THe wind was gently blowing on the beach and teh sun was still high enough in the sky to give everything a warm glow.  The sun had heated up the water enoughtthat it was fun to walk along the waters edge, splahing the inclomg ripples of the tide with our feet as we enjoyed ach others' company and chatted.  Following this, I took her on a little side excursion along the beach...we visited the Folly.

...more to come...

Lord, please help me to shine like a star!

Shining as Stars

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16 as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

Philippians 2

We are God's priests. In the morning, let's praise!

1 Chronicles 2328 The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron's descendants in the service of the temple of the LORD : to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God. 29 They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the flour for the grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size. 30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD. They were to do the same in the evening 31 and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on Sabbaths and at New Moon festivals and at appointed feasts. They were to serve before the LORD regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.
1 Peter 2
9But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Lord, you are good. I trust in you.
Please make me the woman you have called me to be.
Amen.

Isaiah 41
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

11 "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.

13 For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Proverbs 31

The Wife of Noble Character

10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

My Valentine

What if coming to the end of ourselves brought us to a new beginning in God?

What if God's compassion were planted so deeply into our being
that it would challenge all of
our assumptions
our anger
our prejudices?
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

Philippians 4

4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:21
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Philippians 3:7-8
7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
