Fishing in the rain...

Yesterday Jamie and I headed out at about noon to go for an afternoon of "easy" fishing. "Easy" because we didn't get up at the crack of dawn to get out on the water. We didn't have any bait and were praying that the Lord would provide, literally. (At least I was praying that it was His will that we find bait.) Anyhoo...we searched and searched for the "poagies" but to no avail. We took the boat east and west in the Port Royal sound along Dolphin Head but didn't see any signs of bait (little fish heads flickering on the water's surface or Pelicans diving for a gulp.) So, we gave up and decided to head to Christmas Tree and fish for "greenies." Well, on the way, and as the clouds began to really build in the sky, we spotted another fisherman pulling in his nets along a "rip" and in Jamie's words, "Glad he showed us that." Meaning, there was bait there and God had provided.

Well, God had a sense of humor because after we hit the rip and Jamie threw a bunch of casts and hauled in some nice bait (Blue Fish, Whiting, Greenies, and a trout) a huge thunder clapped around our heads and I jumped up in a scream. We saw lightning flash in the distance and rain began puring all around. Well...you know the story if you were on Hilton Head yesterday...the rain didn't let up and it rained all the way until today (Monday). Suffice to say, we were reluctant to go in (except when I saw the lightning, I was pretty ready) and sadly the great bait we had just caught was going to be left for naught. With a little distress, we made our way back to the dock, sat a while to see of the storm would pass, and knowing it wouldn't, we gave in. God made us rest. Jamie tossed the bait to all the Blue Herons and White Egrets that had gathered on the dock to hang with us and we were entertained and marveled to see them fighting for the fish. Jamie cleaned the boat and our adventure was done.

A great day.....thank you Lord.
